Private Music Lessons Teacher
Job Title: Music Mentor (All Instruments)
Job Summary:
ROOTS Academy is hiring Music Mentors to teach private music lessons to students across the Greater Nashville area. We are seeking passionate, dependable instructors on all instruments — including piano, voice, guitar, drums, strings, brass, woodwinds, and more.
As a ROOTS Mentor, you’ll do more than teach — you’ll mentor students in both music and personal growth. This role is ideal for teachers who are deeply committed to building long-term student relationships and are excited to help students grow in confidence, creativity, and skill.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide weekly one-on-one private lessons in your primary instrument(s) at ROOTS Academy or other approved locations.
Teach students foundational through advanced musical skills, including technique, music theory, and performance preparation.
Foster a safe, encouraging, and inspiring learning environment for students ages 5 – adult.
Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and development.
Participate in bi-monthly team meetings, quarterly recitals, and occasional professional development sessions at our Brentwood campus.
Work Schedule:
Mentors are typically scheduled for 2–3 days per week during the following hours:
Monday–Thursday: 2:00–8:30 PM
Friday: 2:00–7:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
Consistent availability during peak after-school hours is required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of teaching experience on your primary instrument(s).
- Commitment to teaching with ROOTS for at least one full year.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Reliability, strong communication skills, and a passion for mentoring young musicians.
- Multi-instrumentalists preferred (piano and voice especially!)
Compensation:
Lesson Rate: $25–$28/hour starting rate, based on experience, instrument, and schedule availability.
